Test
You may date yourself if you can remember this, “This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System. If this had been an actual emergency…”.
What would you do if it was an actual emergency?
When you heard that loud and annoying siren come over the airways, did you contemplate the manner of emergencies that would warrant that system to alert? I cannot report that I did. Nor do I recall planning any action in preparation of an “actual emergency”. However, I’m tested from every side (1 Corinthians 4:8-9) I’ve learned to expect these tests and contemplate them. What if my life was required of me at this moment, (Luke 12:20) would I be ready?
Prior to the day that Jesus was born prophets told of a Messiah to come. They even warned of the wrath that God would pour onto those who chose not to believe. Over and over there are warnings and examples of situations where people chose not to heed those warnings.
There are still warnings today. Do you pay attention? Have you heeded them? Surely, you’ve heard…can you say that you have not been tested?
Lately, the sirens sound more like pleading hearts. Compassionate family members, loving friends, co-workers and friendly neighbors. People who care about Creation and those in it. If you’ve ignored them or tuned them out, don’t be surprised when they become bolder in their efforts. You see it. You hear it, but will you listen?
How will you handle the final test?
