Bold

Bold

Per my query bold describes a confident, courageous, or daring person or action, often characterized by a willingness to take risks. It goes on to list other examples such as describing visual things along with synonyms and actions and statements.

What caught my attention was the “additional context” which states that “Bold” can “sometimes imply being rude or overly forward”.

That’s where I’m sitting today.

Why?

I’m glad you asked!

Personally, I feel led to be bold in several ways, most importantly in my faith. Being bold in faith requires knowledge of that faith and a relationship that includes wisdom given from the Holy Spirit. But it also requires humility.

With all that goes on these days it’s hard to believe that people really don’t want to listen to the loudest, most vocal, or wild ideas to follow a path down the road of life. Chaos is too hard to get a grip on, and it always ends at a dead end. That’s what loud, obnoxious, flashy and wild brings to my mind, chaos, and it is everywhere!

God is not a god of chaos. He is the God of peace and love, kindness and gentleness. His wrath is mighty, but His grace is bold. Bold enough to die for me and for you.

As I pray for my boldness, I know I must tap into His wisdom and the power of the Holy Spirit within me. His wisdom comes from studying the Word. When I write those truths on the “tablets of my heart”, I understand His ways and His will for me and for others. With the direction from the Holy Spirit, I can tap into His discernment and guidance as I grow strength over the weakness of myself and become bolder in my meekness-strength under control.

Being bold in my faith isn’t loud vocally, it is loud in action. Being bold in my faith is not rude, or judgmental. It is not haughty or pushy. Being bold in faith is having the confidence in the love of Christ and what He did for me on the cross, so much so that my heart desires others to know that love too. Not push them away. The fact that I have the privilege of knowing Jesus as my Savior is quite humbling and something to never take for granted.

For me, boldness is being approachable as a confident and courageous woman who has a spark of “something different” that others are drawn to, not put off by…or maybe they are, and that’s okay too. People who are “put off” may just make the room needed for the ones who desire to be bold too. I’ll add that to my prayer.
