How You Doin’?
How are you doing, really? “Good”? Are you good, or are you doing well? Hangin’ in there? Barely?

Do you actually give an accurate answer when asked that question? “Good” seems to be good enough for most people to smile and go on their way. Sometimes that’s all we need to hear, sometimes that’s all we feel like answering.
When is “good” not enough? Who do we decide to spill the truth to? What prompts the roaring rapids of our truthful outpouring about how we really are? Do we ever respond with, “You know, I’m barely keeping my head above water and I fear I’m going to drown at any moment. Let me just tell you exactly what’s going on.” Is there someone for that time of release who doesn’t require payment on an hourly basis?
“Hello-I’m ________ and I’m a struggleaholic.”
“Hi _____, welcome.”
Really? Who wants to give hours of their time sitting in a circle listening to other people’s issues? I realize that many people do, but I just can’t think of anyone wanting to hear all about my day.
“Hi, I’m so-and-so and this morning I got up at 5:28 because I don’t set my alarm on whole hours or half-hours. Next, I started my day being pooped on.” -true story.
“Then, I continued the ongoing, daily battle I have with myself on what the heck I’m supposed to be doing with my life.”
I’m not one to set resolutions at the crack of the new year, but I appreciate those who do. If that’s you, “how you doin’?”
I’m serious, I’d like to know. Did you keep up with your plan or has it fizzled out? You know, it’s not a crime to start again. Or can I say, “Yay! Keep up the awesomeness!”
Either way, a plan is a plan. I like to plan but lately it doesn’t seem to be working out for me.
Change is in the air. EVERYWHERE.
Listing all the changes that have happened for me in the past month and a half, even in this past week, would make me feel like I needed to send each one of you a check for your time. Even so, I feel like there are plenty of folks riding this same boat that I’m on and we aren’t sure it’s for the ticket we thought we bought.
So, to everyone out there that waved energetically as we pushed off from shore, don’t toss the life raft over with plans to jump in just yet. The ride has just started and the seas will calm. Let’s change our position and see what’s up ahead. Move from the back of the boat where we’ve been scanning the horizon, looking for that place we left from. Let’s check the starboard side or even the port side...there might be something amazing going on there.
Why not join me as I move to the front. I’m choosing today to head right up there and see what’s ahead. To the bow...and that’s literally what I’m doing; I’m choosing to bow.
Ephesians 4: 13-14 “Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. (14) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”
And I encourage you to read the rest of that chapter for encouragement.
Be blessed. I’m thankful for you. All Aboard!
