Life
Today I’m pondering the word life in a way that I haven’t before. Depending on the mood, one could feel that they were “Living their best life!” or the situation they are in could prompt a response like, “Well, that’s life.”. Where are you sitting these days? Are you happy in your life or looking forward to what’s next?
For me life keeps changing. It’s a multi-faceted kaleidoscope of thoughts as I try not to lean on feelings and/or emotions. The oyster of the world at my hands is perplexing to me as I see more grit than pearl.
One thing I know for sure, life is definitely what you make of it. You can fill it with things that will be meaningful or throw away time that doesn’t come back. Relationships can seem rock solid one day and be cast into the lake of yesteryear the next. Memories you thought would impact the future, thoughtfully planned and carried out, are forgotten as the seasons change and new memories push out the old. This generation doesn’t hold on to mementos like those grandparents and great-grandparents of our parent’s parents…so how can we pass along “life” lived anymore?
Maybe the recent focus on this past week leading up to Easter Sunday has put my thoughts to this word of the week, life, or maybe I’ve been pondering it for a while, but one thing I know, life is given to have a full life and living it out in the wide open impacts others in ways you may not see, but matters more than you realize.
Focusing on the life at hand from this day to the next has bright and fresh perspective despite the muddy darkness that tries to close in around me. I can trudge on unscathed because of the hope I have for a full life. Troubles come and try to overwhelm me, problems arise, sickness and death try to defeat me and those around me, but I keep seeing life! I see life lived. I see newness abound. I see Jesus in the details because I look to Him for my existence. He died to give me a new life, I grabbed on and I’m living my purpose out in this world until the life I’m meant to have with Him for eternity! Nothing else matters.
The more I look around, the more I see people who believe in the same Truth and that is very encouraging. There are some incredible people in this life, living theirs to the fullest despite the challenges of this world, because of the hope of the eternal world they have with Christ living in them. Are you with me?
